Port
Ludlow Disaster Preparedness Group
·
The
Port Ludlow “Disaster Preparedness Group” has been in operation at least
15 years. It was initiated under the leadership of Howard Morse, M.D. who had
credentials from his previous work with the Los Angeles emergency preparedness
organization. We are linking into Jefferson County’s Emergency Operations
Center. We are a committee of the Port Ludlow Village Council.
·
The
present Port Ludlow Disaster Preparedness Group consist of active volunteers
who are trained to assist residents in the case of a local disaster. We
communicate via portable UHF Family Radio Service radios. Our neighborhood
Disaster Preparedness Captains and Co-Captains are not trained to provide
emergency assistance. If a resident has an emergency, call 911.
·
Several
of our Disaster Preparedness Captains and Co-Captains are also certified as
members of the Community Emergency
Response Team (CERT) Program.
·
Residents can learn more about self protection by visiting
the free course of instruction located at http://www.getemergencyprepared.com/index.html.
