Paradise Bay Road & Hwy 104

10/16/24: John Goldwood, PLVC President, spoke with one of the WSDOT project engineers for clarification on traffic re-routes at SR104 and Paradise Bay Road due to roundabout construction.

Short-term key takeaways:

  • The intersection of Paradise Bay Road and SR104 will be closed completely starting on October 24th.
  • Westbound traffic crossing the Hood Canal Bridge will need to go up to Teal Lake Road to gain access to Paradise Bay Road, and southbound Paradise Bay Road traffic that currently can turn right from Paradise Bay Road onto SR104 will also need to use Teal Lake Road to access SR104. Through traffic on SR104 eastbound and westbound will be unaffected.
  • (The really good news for us is that the original plan to detour westbound SR104 onto Paradise Bay Road and then Teal Lake Road is not happening.)
  • The other key takeaway is that construction will proceed at the roundabout until approximately November 14th, after which construction will stop until next March when warmer temperatures return to allow asphalt paving to resume at the site.
  • Our understanding currently is that while the project is on hold during the winter months, the Paradise Bay/Shine Road/SR104 intersection will resume access that existed before construction began, i.e. left and right turns from Paradise Bay to SR104, right turns from SR104 onto Paradise Bay.
