The focus of the committee is periodically monitoring the status of the PLVC’s financial position and the adequacy of the PLVC’s insurance coverage. Additionally, the Committee will periodically review and compare the consistency of the Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, and Policies and Procedures, and lead whatever effort is necessary to amend these documents when required.
The committee facilitates communication between the Village Council and the public by fostering creative ideas and exploring new avenues to increase public awareness about the Village Council and Port Ludlow community. Tools used include eBlasts, the Village Council website, Port Ludlow Voice articles and management of meetings on Zoom.

The committee exists to assist in the continued development and enhancement of the MPR and acts as a facilitator to address any community concerns on behalf of the residents of Port Ludlow. As such, we maintain collaborative relationships with the MPR’s developer, Port Ludlow Associates, elected representatives and employees of Jefferson County, and neighboring property owners, such as Rayonier.
The mission of the Emergency Management Committee is to manage the following functions: first, to educate residents on how to prepare themselves in case there were a disaster; second, if an emergency took place, to be a communications vehicle between the community and Jefferson County; and third, to organize and facilitate neighborhood and community-wide self-help efforts in the event of a disaster. There are 35 established response neighborhoods, four communication centers and almost 100 volunteer block captains who have radios to assist in performing these functions.
The Community Opportunity Fair is organized by 5 intrepid women with a vision to connect the Port Ludlow Community with a myriad of opportunities to get involved on the local level. The fair is held on even-numbered years and showcases a variety of local clubs and activities, opportunities to volunteer in non-profits, and local service organizations.
The committee works with a cadre of volunteers and our community partners, Astound Broadband and Lakeside Industries, to provide the lights in the roadside median trees on Paradise Bay Road adjacent the village center to brighten your winter nights. We also collaborate with Port Ludlow Associates to bring you the Christmas tree lighting celebration each December in the village center.
If you're one of the many Port Ludlow residents who enjoys the work of the Trails Committee, you'll be happy to hear there is a brand new trail in the works. The McCormick trail and McCormick loop will be partially in the Timberton area and will be 2.2 to 2.5 miles long. The trail uses part of an old lumber railroad track.
The Trails Committee chair, Larry Scott, with members of the committee, have been scouting and flagging the route, and work begins in earnest soon. The trail is expected to be ready for use in late 2023. There will be a new edition of the trails map produced. I'm sure all walkers and hikers in the area appreciate their hard work!
The committee mission is to preserve, promote, and protect Port Ludlow’s trails and natural resources. This includes maintenance of existing trails; developing new trails; promoting community awareness and appreciation of the established walking/bike trails; informing residents of their role in enhancing and nurturing the natural resources that abound in the area; and encouraging users to help maintain the trails.
The committee monitors developments with the electric, water, sewer, solid waste (including recycling) and other utilities serving the Port Ludlow community, makes recommendations to the PLVC Board about utility-related issues, and facilitates communications with the Port Ludlow community about utility matters. The committee may also address issues relating to the Port Ludlow Drainage District in the North Bay area and to other stormwater drainage facilities in the South Bay area, as well as issues relating to the Port Ludlow Marina.
